AFAN's Global Mission is to enhance, protect, and validate the important role astrologers and astrology have in today's society.

AFAN Insurance and Emergency Fund Initiative & Survey

AFAN is considering the development of a large project to provide a permanent, central resource on financial preparedness for professional astrologers. This initiative has a dual purpose:

1. Information: providing insurance and preparedness strategies applicable to us as self-employed business people.

2. Funding: Developing an emergency fund to assist full-time astrologers facing crisis situations.

Your participation in our survey will enable AFAN to assess the perceived need for this initiative.

The survey is completely confidential. You can take the survey in either of two ways: online, or by completing and returning a paper form. Select the appropriate link below:

International Astrology Day, 2009

Yep! There IS such a day!! International Astrology Day was founded by AFAN in 1993, an outgrowth of the "Astrology Awareness Weekends" which AFAN had sponsored for several years previously. The goals of the new holiday were to expand networking opportunities among the astrological community, to direct media attention to positive aspects of astrology, and to help raise funds for local astrological groups and for AFAN's legal, media, and other networking projects.

International Astrology Day is celebrated to coincide with the beginning of the Astrological Year, the spring equinox, when the Sun enters the tropical sign of Aries. This date was selected by a vote of AFAN Networkers when declaring the new holiday. Next year we will celebrate IAD on March 21, 2009.

Since astrologers are known for celebrating celestial events, this day should be at the top of our list for honoring our glorious profession in the same way we honor our birthdays.

We have now put together a committee to coordinate events around the world, and we have an International Committee!

  • Didier Castille in Paris, France
  • Gabriella VonElekes in Scottsdale, Arizona
  • John Dawson in the UK
  • Toni Thomas Dore in Atlanta, Georgia

We are open to suggestions and offer a few here that you may way want to take to your community:

  • Arrange to give a lecture at your local library to the general public.
  • Write out press releases (I will help you with this) to send out to your local new publications.
  • Meet at a pub or a restaurant with your friends to toast and talk about astrology.
  • Have a party and just invite your friends. Have them dress as their Sun sign or their favorite planet or bring a food dish to represent their sign. (These are just a few of the ideas that can be used to carry out the astrological theme at a party!)
  • If you teach, schedule an open house or a free class night.
  • Have a day of free mini-readings/chart analysis and send everyone away with a free copy of their chart.
  • Go to your local coffee shop or cafe and see if you can set up there to do your free mini-readings.

We would love to hear your ideas!

Blessings,
Toni Thomas Dore
