ISAR provides a certification program for astrologers who want to advance their skills in astrology. The program provides consulting skills training and ethics awareness training. In addition, an applicant must have fulfilled educational requirements, including three elective courses in astrology, and must pass a competency skills exam in astrology.  The candidate who successfully completes these requirements is awarded a Certificate of Astrological Proficiency (CAP) and becomes an ISAR Certified Astrologer.

In establishing the educational requirements for ISAR certification, educators from top astrology schools around the world have been consulted. Many of their recommendations have been incorporated into this program.
