Welcome to ISAR
ISAR is dedicated to encouraging the highest standards of quality in astrology. We do that in several ways: by offering a certification program that emphasizes ethics awareness, competence in techniques and interpretation, and consulting skills; by networking with other organizations to provide the best astrological educational services possible; by sponsoring research to help build a body of evidence relevant to astrology; and by providing a professionally written journal and a weekly e-newsletter.
ISAR offers members several benefits. Its journal, The International Astrologer, will be available online on our website beginning April 1st 2010. It can also be mailed in softbound version three times per year. The journal presents thought-provoking and educational articles with a variety of astrological perspectives. The weekly e-newsletter allows every member to share ideas, ask for help, or provide perspective. Membership also includes reduced admission fees to conferences. Perhaps most important of all is the sense of community that members share as we work together towards our common goal of promoting professionalism in astrology.

ISAR Consulting Skills being offered at NORWAC
As a special addition to this year’s NORWAC, ISAR will be offering its Consulting Skills Training two days prior to the NORWAC Conference. This training is a required component of the ISAR Certification Program. However, anyone can take the training, whether on the path for ISAR certification or not. (See ISAR Certification on sidebar)
ISAR’s Consulting Skills Training is a 16 hour intensive training that is designed to give astrologers listening and empathy skills that facilitate the astrologer-client relationship. This two day training is primarily experiential, emphasizing role-playing exercises that teach empathic communication, reflection, paraphrasing and active listening. Integrated with the basic principles of chart interpretation, these skills provide astrologers an ability to respond to their clients’ most personal thoughts and feelings and in this way help clients feel better understood.
