In the early seventy's when I was teaching in Denver in a metaphysical bookstore, there was also a man teaching how to remember past lives without hypnosis. I have always had a belief in reincarnation from the time I was three years old, walking down the street with my aunt, my mother and grandmother. They were discussing that reincarnation could not possibly be true, and this three year old little snot says: "you'll come back if you get your hands slapped."

When I met Bryan Jameison I was very interested in what he was doing, because I do not like hypnosis and putting my conscious mind out of my control. In re-experiencing a past life via hypnosis, one will usually not relive anything that is not directly asked of you to experience. With Bryan's method you can explore something you want to talk about. You cannot experience something you don't want to. Astro Analytics publishes Bryan Jameison's book on "How to Explore Past Lives Without Hypnosis".

I took his seminars and was regressed but being a little bit slow, it did not occur to me until a year and a half ago that we could ask for the birth data during the regression. In a private regression you may go through one to four lives, depending on how important they are. When you start looking at most lives prior to this century, there weren't that many important events. Bryan says that in one of his past lives the big event was sitting down to a good bowl of soup and brown bread and if the facilitator had not moved him along, he would have enjoyed that meal for two hours.

In asking for birth data there has to be a way that is logical so that we don't have to figure out what calendar they were using or what time zone they were on. The facilitator asks for the birth data in the current calendar terms and the birth time in Greenwich time. He asks for the latitude and longitude of the place of birth. You are working directly with your Higher Self and the answers are very good. It has been my experience with all that I have watched since I have known him, it doesn't get to be a travelogue. You can't take a little travel trip, and we will explore. When you are regressed, you get to experience only that which you need to know. If you cannot handle it, you will not get it.

The regression ends with the death scene. With this technique you go through it. If you don't want to experience it, you watch but you always go through with it, otherwise you may always carry some of the pain with you. After the regression, one of the questions Bryan asks is: What was the lesson in that lifetime? and on a scale of one to ten, how well did you learn it? What fascinated me in the early years after listening to so many of these regressions, is that the lesson is a single planetary keyword which related to the Sun sign.

Chart #1 at the end of this article was obtained after one of my many regressions. After putting all the information into the computer, we sat there for two hours astounded, because there is no way that anyone could manufacture such a chart that long ago, and I have seen them as far back as 3,000 B.C. When we did the progressions and transits for a major event, it boggled our minds. The other thing that was amazing was the contact from the reincarnation chart to the present chart. We have seen this follow with about three dozen of them so far. It is not as good as ten thousand, but it is better than two.

This is the case of a lady called Elsbeth who was born on May 19, 1732. If you will look at the chart, I am going to ask you what you would tell me about her temperament as a young girl.

A. Willful, rebellious, very active, in need of relationships, fun loving, determined, possessive, controlling, manipulating.

Joyce: Yes, all of those things. How about the family financial circumstance? There were two children.

A. Wealthy, Jupiter trines the Sun and opposes the Moon. Ups and downs.

Joyce: Very early in her life there was a lot of comfort and wealth. You are right, there was a swing later. This was in Virginia.

A. Venus is in a T square with Saturn and Pluto. Venus rules the 7th so there is an issue involving power and control.

Joyce: right.

I was trying to understand some of the drama in my present life, so when I went through the regression, I had asked my Higher Self that if this drama was tied into a past life, and if there was anything I should know, I would like to understand it in order that I might clean up my act. If there is nothing you should know, you are not going to get anything.

Chart #2 is the progressed chart for the most dramatic event of Elsbeth's lifetime whichoccurred on May 19, 1751.

In Figure #3 are the transits for May 19, 1751, Elsbeth's 19th birthday. You will notice that in the secondary progressions for that day in Chart #2, the progressed ascendant was exactly on natal Mars opposition natal Sun. How would you read an opposition of Sun-Mars, just to begin with, and particularly at 29 degrees?

A. Physical violence, murder, accident, rape.

Joyce: Yes. The progressed ascendant had come to the Mars, 7th house on the Sun. There obviously is somebody else involved. Take a quick look at the transits and tell me what is activating that degree with the transits?

A. Uranus

Joyce: Uranus puts in sudden unexpectedness and Uranus is the planet of human agency, meaning a third or fourth party is involved.

A. In the 4th house, could it be in the domicile?

Joyce: Yes, it could be a forced entrance. It could end something because it is the 4th house; an unexpected ending. Now, just for a touch of synchronicity, my present birthday is the 19th, December 19th. Nineteen has always been a very prominent number for me. As Miss Elsbeth, called "Miz Beth" by some of the people around, I was to be married on my 19th birthday. It was a very lovely wedding. As we walked out the front door of the hall, somebody else showed up and shot the spouse. There is the separation shown in the chart, the suddenness, the unexpectedness, the third party. Now you can see why it boggled our minds. It fit the regression. I looked at the chart after the regression. We have the 29 degrees which is the urgency. I have to have this. On my 19th birthday I am going to get it. Isn't this all great and wonderful! Transiting Mars was conjunct the 4th house cusp of the natal chart. The transiting Nodes were on the 2nd-8th axis of the natal chart. The progressed Sun was right on Neptune, and Neptune is the assassin. Transiting Saturn was exactly square the progressed 4th and 10th angle; transiting Jupiter was conjunct the progressed part of fortune; progressed Moon was conjunct Uranus; progressed Mercury opposed progressed Uranus. The transiting Moon was somewhere between 18 and 20 Pisces, opposing the part of Fortune, squaring the nodes and the 5th house cusp was 19 Pisces. Transiting Venus was quincunx the progressed ascendant and sesquisquare the natal ascendant. I consider the inconjunct as probably the most separative aspect there is. It is renunciation. Where you do something for your own good, or I'll do it for you. We are looking at an era some time back. We did not have the choices then that we do now. 29 of any degree is something that has to be done. You have no choice.

Elsbeth's childhood was in a very well-to-do family. She rode horseback, was pampered, sassy, got her own way, was a redhead, and as much as I hate to say it, was a little snot of a brat who could wind daddy around her little finger. She had servants, never had to lift a finger, and was a flirt. She was very much in love with the man she was marrying, however, the man that killed him was his best friend. She had made a play at both of them. She came between the marriage partner and his best friend, spurned his best friend, caused a rift between the two of them. The friend was extremely jealous and that was the shooting as he walked out of the door. I am not sure if he meant to shoot Elsbeth instead of her new husband.

In the present life, I am either married to the man that was my husband or the man that shot my husband. I know which one it is, but I am not going to tell you. In this lifetime they are both very good friends and I can do nothing to interfere with their friendship. I have the opportunity now to make up for past mistakes. Neither of them know anything about the events of the past life. It is my belief that unless they experience it, they have no right to the knowledge.

Q. How do you know who the person is in this life?

A. The person does not look the same, but you are standing there in your higher consciousness and there is an immediate recognition, even though the features are different; or you may be asked to ask your Higher Self to check if there is anyone in that lifetime who you know in this lifetime that matters.

In this ecstasy of planning to be married, Elsbeth and John, like all couples do, decided that they would have four sons. John was shot. Elsbeth never married. She remained a virgin all her life. Can you think of anything more offensive, with a Scorpio ascendant there? Guess what I have in this life...four sons! When I was 7 or 8 in this life, I said: "I sure would like to be married when I am 19". My ascendant now is 22 Aquarius 36, right on the nadir of Elsbeth's horoscope. What I am doing this time is completing a lot of that time. That also is not what I would have expected to find. When you talk about completing things from one lifetime or another, you must ask: did you learn your lesson? I don't think there is a time that you do everything that you set out to do.

I don't have the data with me, but my age was around 66, 67, or 68 when I passed away. As far as I was concerned, as Elsbeth, my whole life had been destroyed. There was no pure joy. The one thing that I got a lot of delight out of was red roses. To this day, I adore red roses. When we lived in Colorado I had some fifty rose bushes almost all of them were red.

When I first came out of that regression, if the lady where we were having the seminar had any booze in the house, she would not have had any in the next five minutes. I wanted a drink of whiskey! Today I don't like whiskey. I was one of those southern belle secret drinkers. I could taste the perfume in my mouth to cover it up. Neptune conjunct Mercury in the 8th, (a secret way to forget) inconjunct the ascendant...a way of handling life. After a life, in retrospect when you do your assessing, you say: "Hey that was kind of a waste, don't do it again."

After Elsbeth lost her husband on the wedding night and experienced great grief, for the rest of her life until her late sixties, Elsbeth was on call for anybody in the area as a nurse. She helped bring babies into the world, helped people die, helped the injured, because she felt grief so strongly. I asked my Higher Self: "What was the lesson of that lifetime?" The answer was: grief! Why would you have to have a lifetime to learn grief, if you have never had it before? What I have seen through the regressions is that it is two sides of the coin. If you have a lifetime of grief, you are going to have one that balances out and will be pleasurable.

My current planetary placements are: MC - 8 Sagittarius 38; Ascendant - 22 Aquarius 36; Sun - 26 Sag. 54; Moon - 16 Libra 42; Mercury - 2 Capricorn 18; Venus - 12 Scorpio 38; Mars - 9 Aquarius 46; Jupiter - 9 Sag. 01; Saturn - 4 Pisces 59: Uranus - 1 Taurus 45 retrograde; Neptune - 16 Virgo 44 retrograde; Pluto - 26 cancer 54 retrograde; Part of Fortune - 12 Sag. and change.

Look at the contacts. My Midheaven and Jupiter conjunct her Uranus. The part of fortune conjuncts the 2nd house cusp, inconjuncts Venus, opposes Mercury by 2 degrees, sextiles Saturn. The Moon conjuncts Pluto. Venus conjuncts the Ascendant. My ascendant conjuncts her 4th house cusp; Neptune squares Neptune on the same degree; Venus trines Venus in water. What I have come up with in many of my past lives is that Venus has been at 12 degrees several times as well as other planets on that degree. The 8 and a half Sagittarius has been highly prominent, also 12 to 14 Scorpio. I have found that not necessarily the planet, but there is a repeat of a certain degree in a sign. I also found that there was no Saturn to Saturn contact, from the regressed chart to the present chart.

The two things that bound me to that life of Elsbeth was love and hatred, because that son of a b.... who shot John rode off into the night and was never caught. Now I must fulfill in a constructive way that relationship and release that hatred, because hatred is just as binding as love. The condition must be understood and you have to let it go with love.

What Bryan has found in over 3000 regressions is that it is not kill and be killed. It is be careful who you kill because you may get to send them to Harvard next time around. They may be your offspring.

With a 1st house Saturn in my present chart, I have a great element for the need for safety, which is why I was born in Denver in 1935 this time, since Europe was not the safest place to be born. I did not bring the chart with me, but in the year of about 700 A.D. I had a Mars-Pluto conjunction opposition Uranus and it had a rulership over the ascendant, the 4th house and the 8th house. The reason I was born at that particular time period is that I wanted to study with a certain teacher on the coast of Greece. I was told by my Higher Self that it was not a safe time to incarnate, but I chose to do so. We were in male forms at that time. We were not well thought of by the religious community that was in power and during the graduation ceremony, they raided our party and did a little killing and deboweling. Why are we born to our parents? My mother was the one who did it. She was in a male form at the time. My father, in this lifetime came over the hill in pursuit of the assassins and he mercifully killed all of us with a knife in the heart. Ten years ago it would have really bothered me, but there is no pain now. The curious thing is that my son and a close friend who were also killed at that time, all carry abdominal scars today. It is like a memory that is generated.

As far as my own understanding is concerned, it has been a most incredible experience. Thank you for your attention.
